Hello Below the Bible Belt Readers -
This coming week the Jewish world celebrates Simchat Torah - the ending of the annual Torah reading cycle and its immediate restart, from the beginning. Once again, this 3+year journey of daily Bible exploration meets the calendar almost in perfect sync: Next week we bid farewell to the Torah and enter the Promised Land and the section of the Hebrew Bibles dedicated to the Prophets.
I’m grateful to be concluding the 5 books and 187 chapters so far, and 742 to go. And I’m very grateful to those of you joining me on this journey - and esp. to those of you who take the time to share insights, questions, feedback and inspirations.
We’ll cross the Jordan and start the Book of Joshua on October 25. On October 24th at I invite you to join me for an exciting 60 min. zoom session to get ready and get excited about the Joshua Journey. Joining me on the call will be Dr. Rachel Havrelock, a brilliant biblical scholar, and Rabbi David Kline, a wonderful teacher, writer, and ongoing reader of this blog. Both of them have a lot to say about the historical, political and interrupting aspects of this complex book. Details here:

Two more invitations for you:
The first - On Nov. 2 I’ll begin my online ALEF BET COURSE - 18 conversations about the basic building blocks of Judaism in the 21st Century. You can sign up for one session, one section or the entire course. Details here:

And finally - an invitation to support this work - in whatever way you can. Below the Bible Belt is a labor of love and will always be free for all. For those of you appreciating it - donations will be welcomed and appreciated, enabling me to get some research assistance and support with social media and outreach. Maybe you want to support a word, a verse, a chapter, or a book? No gift too small and all deeply appreciated.
You can donate via Lab/Shul, here:
Please designate your gift to Rabbi Amichai’s Bible Blog.
Thank you for your generous support and ongoing inspiration.
Happy Last days of Sukkot,
Amichai
