Seeking Shelter

Weekly Video Recap of Below the Bible Belt
1

Where do you find shelter? what’s your place of refuge?

Many millions in the world today ask this question of survival, displaced, refugees, asylum seekers. In Gaza, and in Israel, at borders everywhere, so many humans need physical shelter from harm. And everywhere - we all need a place within to find refuge, sanctuary, serenity, hope.

Throughout this week we’ve read through psalms that are about the question: Does the serenity exist within the temple, on the hill, and/or in each heart, and on the road? The longing of the pilgrim, the reality of the exiled, the yearning of all.

The PSLAMS keep talking of tent and hut, cave and temple, mountaintop and home, embrace and eternal rest - all wistful words for feeling held, for being home.

Well, what and where is your refuge today? How are we each other’s shelter?

The psalm we read yesterday ends with the promise, with the wish:

חֲ֭זַק וְיַאֲמֵ֣ץ לִבֶּ֑ךָ

be strong and of good courage!

Let’s be each other’s shelter, find our place of refuge within, and work together to ensure that more and more people have what they need, body and soul, to feel safe, held, and home.

Better days.

Shabbat Shalom.
