Dear Friends,
A new Jewish year begins tonight — an opportunity to wish Shana Tova to all of us who celebrate. May this new year bring better news to all of us - everywhere.
I’m in New York City, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I was here when this terrible day claimed so many lives and changed our world forever. Today I join the millions who still mourn, hold memories of loved ones, and recommit to a world not ruled by revenge and radical notions of justice but rather to wisdom and compassion, peace and progress - for all of us on this earth. The Jewish New Year is celebrated on the day on which all humanity was born, according to our tradition - and this day we recommit to the sanctity and dignity of all lives, all of us equally created in the divine image.
I’m grateful for your joining me on this journey and glad to share a few gifts and wishes ahead of this hopeful new year.
