Who REALLY wrote the Bible??
That’s a big question that has many different answers across religious, idealogical, academic and political divides.
A lesser known chapter from the latter part of the Hebrew Bible tells the story, with some surprising information. I've been obsessed by this chapter for 25 years.. and created the Storahtelling Storahtelling Jewish Ritual Theater Co. back in 1999, inspired by this story about the birth of the bible as a public performance and sacred script performed by the oldest professionals in the Jewish world - the storytellers better known as Mavinim - or Mavens.
Somehow, with wise intention, our tradition gave us both the written book - and the oral ways with which to debate, confront, comment on or even adapt the more troubling+toxic contents.
At this time when literal readers of the Bible use its words to wage war on liberal values that are also found within these pages — this original method seems critical to know - and to revive.
