A beautiful sharing. The other night I read a JTA story about the Israeli left in NY and in the accompanying photo was struck by how the signage importantly differed from the signs of the American Left. I felt that this group has a voice that greatly counts, and was not surprised to find you pictured in the group. Thank you for continuing to share wise perspectives on both the Bible journey and the current morass,
As a classical historian, I feel such frustration at people who can only look back a short time, especially young people. I sympathize with their pain and outrage. I remember being a war protester when my elders seemed to be lost in delusion--such a feeling of powerlessness. I so appreciate listening to you problematize and humanize the biblical texts. I can’t say that I feel hopeful but neither do I feel resigned. Listening puts my heartbreak into perspective. Thank you.
Thank you for struggling with these issues and grounding them in our tradition.
Your thoughtful wrestling with past, present and future is a gift. Thank you for sharing it.
